Plein Air Painting

Cost:
$100 for Museum Members and $125 for Non-Members
Minimum required to hold class: 6 Maximum: 12
Open to all levels, this class will introduce students to painting en plein air or outdoors. Students will go over materials and methods including: surfaces, grounds,
and oil painting media.
Students will learn about the essentials for creating dimensional, life-like
paintings including: composition, values, edges, color harmony, color
temperature, and paint application.
Students will need to bring their own supplies including paint and easels.

Jeff Allen is the founder of the Plein Air Painters of Iowa and a member of
the Plein Air Painters of Chicago, the Palette & Chisel Academy of Fine
Arts of Chicago and the Cedar Rapid Drawing Group. Jeff attended drawing and
painting classes at the Des Moines Art Center and also draws with the Cedar
Rapids Drawing Group and The Palette & Chisel. Jeff has taken classes and
workshops with Andy Conklin, Michael Van Zeyl, David Leffel, Clayton Beck
III, and Scott Tallman Powers.
